Harvey Nichols Sport Luxe for Sixtynine Degrees Magazine

I have to say, as convenience goes, THIS was the best shoot ever! Shot down the road from where I live, in an all-girls school gym. I took all my lights with me, but we had such a beautiful sunny summer day, I just used the available lighting.

Harvey Nichols Birmingham wanted to showcase their sport luxe lines in Sixtynine Degrees Magazine, and this is the result!

Jen Cheema makes Colourful Sparkly MAGIC

Jen Cheema is a Textile Design graduate from Chelsea College of Art and Design. Her work is full of textures, beads and glitter, prints and colour. And I LOVE it!!

So happy she chose me to shoot her graduate collection. Weirdly, she only lives down the road from me (when I say down the road, I mean down the one road.. Amazing!!). I'll have to pop in sometime soon as I want to get hold of one of her chunky rings for my collection.

Stylist Sophie Benson put the shoot together (including the backdrop art) and we had MUA Jade Crean and stunning model Kerrie Johnson (who didn't stop laughing all day, so glad some of the photos show that!).

Emma's luscious lips

This beauty here is Emma @ RMG. Such a beautiful face! Luscious lips and the cutest freckles.
Here she's posing with Lime Crime's Velvetines on her pout; which I so need to get hold of for myself! A lot of the make-up artists I work with keep recommending it and I can see why: INCREDIBLE matte red lips with staying power (perfect for someone like me who forgets to reapply!).

I had the pleasure of working with Emma and the amazing MUA Laura Dexter a couple months ago. Laura wanted some lip shots in her book and that is what we concentrated on! Especially with these pastel macaroon inspired looks. By the way, this was my first taste of macaroons and I LOVE THEM!!!! You will always be welcome in the studio if you come with macaroons :D

Luckily I was able to fit in a couple clean beauty shots with Emma. This is one of my favourite set-ups at the moment, and it really suits her golden skin tones.

And we also did some ombre lips and the now so called DISCO LIPS! All in all a very fun and productive shoot, just how I like them.

Carmen Miranda

Carmen Miranda is all I could say while organising and shooting these images.

Early in the year I saw a beautiful editorial with headscarves and bright colours and the 50's dancer/singer's name just came into my head. I wanted to shoot brights, headscarves and (if possible) fruit on the head!! I put the concept forward to stylist Lizzy and I don't think she was too thrilled about using food as a styling element, but she was definitely up for the rest! And that's how this shoot came to be! I fell in love with the clothes, the make-up, the models... I think it was one of the most difficult shoots to edit down, so I just retouched a load of them!!

The story was published in Bahrain Confidential magazine (May 2013) and also on an article Lizzy Gardner wrote for Touchbase Magazine.
